Edutella

"MINERVA is the perfect choice in case of our distributed educational setting, allowing us to implement a very scalable and interoperable architecture. Adaptive functionalities can be very well expressed in Prolog while the Java interface allowed to present the results in a nice graphical manner." Quote:

The MINERVA application [RDF translator and visualization components] that we are implementing is a part of the Edutella project (edutella.jxta.org). The sourcecode is public and can be accessed via cvs or browsed online: http://edutella.jxta.org/source/browse/edutella/MINERVA/ More details about the MINERVA application can be found in my diploma thesis, which is in the /doc section.

Background:
Project JXTA http://www.jxta.org is an open source community project initiated by Sun Microsystems to build "a set of open protocols that allow any connected device on the network ranging from cell phones and wireless PDAs to PCs and servers to communicate and collaborate in a P2P manner."

Edutella is a JXTA service project owned by Boris Wolf, Wolfgang Nejdl, and Stefan Decker. Project JXTA highlighted Edutella on its front page 2 Nov 2002 http://www.jxta.org/universities/edutella.html. Research partners include Stanford University, Hanover University, L3S and several other european universities. Project results are available under The Sun Project JXTA Software License.

L3S http://www.learninglab.de states its research focus as "Educational Technology and Collaborative Learning, Digital Media and Semantic Web, Innovations in Learning, eLearning Curricula and Content"

Parsing of RDF documents is core technology for the implemention of Semantic Web applications.
